5500 c-3 for jerkbaits

was wondering if a 5500 would work for working jerks and topwater wtd"s
thinking of trying to find a c-4 for the speed these have for line pick up. any idea that you lean towards? thanks ..karol

C4 is good for jerk baits, but some WTD (weagle, jackpot) top waters require slack line to work properly, so the slower speed reels are usually better for them. It all depends on exactly which baits you are planning on using it for.

The C-4 5500 is a great reel for jerkbaits, I also use it for small bucktails and all my topwaters. It works fine with a weagle/jackpot, and mass marauder; your just have to pay attention.

I had one on my jerkbait rod and I loved it. The smaller size made it easier to palm and the higher gear ratio was easier for picking up the slack line. My tournament partner was using one for mag dawgs and it didn't work out so great. He ended up taking out the anti-reverse bearing after only a couple of weeks. But, for throwing hellhounds, phantoms, suicks, bobbies, ect. it was great.

thanks guys, picked one up from bassboatcentral.com for 25.00 shipped and cleaned. look on there for some bargains from time to time. thanks for your help ..karol
