| I tried to pull my trailer wheels and found half of the lugs and the nuts were badly rusted. The trailer is 14 months old and been in the water only 10 to 15 times, in addition the boat spends 6 months in the gagage. Is there something I need to do? Can I spray wd40 on the lugs to cut the rust? I stripped one nut trying to torque it 100 lbs,I think it was because of the rust.
Thanks,Ray | |

Think you will have better results if you use a graphite compound lubricant on the lug nuts rather than WD40. It won't wash off as quickly when submerged in the water...[;)]
Also I'd try soaking the lug nuts with pennetrating oil overnight before I tried removing any of the other lug nuts. You'll be less apt to strip any others.

| Use Never-Sieze, after cleaning up the threads on the studs with a wire brush to remove all rust.
