Nearest best place might be to drive to Mosinee, put in at Chuck's landing, work the dam area just upriver, then float downriver working your way toward Lake DuBay. If you can get someone at Hook-setter's Guide service they will put you on fish.

Oh, yeah---I'd advise you FLOAT down river b/c if you don't know where you're going you could easily be in for some costly repairs.

yeah, chucks landing is pretty good spot to drop in... about a 1/2 mile down I had a upper forties fish slam a smallmouth i was reelin to the boat. I just let her run around a while before she let go. I just used the trollin motor to try and get close enough to see it a couple of times. Finally let go, and all i had left was a mangled, half dead, 14''smallie!

You could head down to Wisconsin Rapids and fish the Wisconsin River or even the north end of Petenwell. Contact guide Todd Forcier, he knows the area well and I am sure he would happy to take you out.
