I adore specific characteristics of muskies, and have on occasion seen all these characters built into individual fish that take my breath away when I see pictures. . . Some fish are orange-ish or greenish, and some are greyish. Amongst these colors are well defined bars, some spotted, some no-barred. What to you makes up the prettiest musky, and can we please see it?

I'll post one tonight, but I'll admit, the fish that trips my trigger has never met me face to face. . . I'll have to ask a couple guys to post their fish that I admire so much, too.

Here is an awesome 45 I got this summer and the sun lighting up it's fins was what made it look so cool to me.

Sometimes, it seems that the smallest muskies have the prettiest markings. Here's one that is literally the smallest ski I've ever caught. And it happens to be my Dad's first that he's ever seen. The colors just seem to really pop on this one. Notice how even the fins have some spots on them. This strain of fish is actually a Northern strain and grows up to have only bars.

I like the white edging on the fins, it reminds me of a brookie. This fish is as pretty as I've had in my boat, but still not my ideal I especially like a fish with a very defined belly line where the sidewall color transitions into pure white belly.

Got this pretty looking 43.5 1 year ago. I also caught this same fish this fall and was glad to see that eye healed up real nice. The scars have also healed up a bit.

These are the two prettiest muskies that I've caught. The first was out of Monument Bay, LOTW and the second one wasn't too far away from there.

Ok, so you're a belly man, huh? LOL! How 'bout the creamy belly on this one? My brother caught this 45"er this fall. Same lake as the last baby I just posted.

These two have to be among the most nicely colored fish to visit my boat - both rank high in my list of favorites. One I got, one I didn't...

This is a fish I chased for a few days two years ago. It was a healthy 51 caught on a metro MN lake by Hammskie. I have never seen another like it! It had tiny spots all the way up to the cheeks and was almost completely silver with a very light greenish/teal back. There is almost no contrast between the white belly and the main body silver. Also the fins were more orange than red. By far, the most beautiful muskie I've seen and very unique.

I must have botched something trying to post the pics in my last post. I took my wife and a friend of hers out on an Onieda Co. lake in N.WI and both girls caught good fish, but my wife's GF's fish was sooo clean, it appealed to me a lot, but still not my favorite.

These tigers are awesome. Here is a WI River clear phase. Some people think they're ugly, i love 'em! Almost the entire fish is the same color. Below is a wierd two-tone i forgot about until looking through picutres for this post. Caught that one twice in one season a few years ago.

Mine would have to be the 48"er I caught on the Susquehanna River in 2004. She was beautifully marked and released strong to fight another day. She ate a Topraider ten feet from the boat.

I sincerely hope J.Long doesn't mind me posting his fish, but aside from Killips and Nelson's muskies, this is IMO, one of the most gorgeous muskies (pictures) I have ever laid eyes on. There's something about that greyish color with the red fins that is so cool. Add that to a well define belly and "wow".

Here's a few I dug up.
First one is a distinct looking one I caught from IL waters.
The second and third pictures are a couple of clean healthy fish I and my buddy caught from N of the border.

I don't think there is a cooler looking fish than a Tiger.
Great thread Sam!

I will "second" a vote for Crow (kakagi) Lake - ONT.
Just chasing them there is visually stimulating... let alone catching a 46" this summer on a MTO Medussa.

The silver of this late season 45, her distinct spots, the water still coming off of her as she was just pulled from the lake, all combined with the fading late season light make this one of my favs.
