lets hear some reviews on these rods from those who have them and what lures you can throw on them

since this is destined to become a BIG issue (post concerning the MI super mag rods) , do the musky armor rods "stretch" / "change actions" over time?

The 9ft Musky Armor rods will be at chicago, and be available at Mike Hulberts booth. I used one this fall quite a bit and it is a very nice rod, caught some decent fish on it as well.

Great rod for the money. I have had mine since Labor Day and absolutely love it. Mike was great to deal with and very responsive when I had a question about the rod.

Thanks for your interest in the rods and yes, I will have plenty of my 9 ft. rods at the Chicago Musky Show. Stop by, say hello and check them out. These rods are pretty amazing. Light weight and cast bucktails, rubber, cranks, topwaters and gliders like a dream. I couldn't be happier with them and I'm sure you won't be disappointed either. Looking forward to meeting you at the show!

Mike, you failed to mention a very important detail, THEIR VERY IN-EXPENSIVE!!!
When will the 8 footer be availble? I know Chad said he wanted to get them out in the begining of the fall but had some issues. Not sure I would have use for a 9 footer, whats the advantages Mike? If you would talk about the distinct benefits of having such a large rod. Thanks

Chris

I like using a 9 ft rod for pretty much everything I throw. I find it a lot easier to cast all day with a long rod, as the rod does most of the work for you. No more crazy Heman casts. The length of the rod will help you with fatigue, which in my opinion is a huge part of musky fishing. Longer, 9 ft rods also allow me to boat alot more fish that are "lip hooked" as the rod absorbs a ton of enengy when the fish starts shaking. Along the same lines, it allows me to also keep fish down in the water as I am really able to plunge my rod into the water to prevent them from jumping. Another huge advantage to using longer rods is a much wider and smoother figure 8. With over 50% of my fish caught on the figure 8, I want a rod that will allow me to do the widest turns possible and when that big fish hits, have enough of a whippy tip to allow all that instant chaos to stay pinned and hooked. I have yet to find a bad or negative aspect to using 9 ft. rods. To me it makes fishing alot more enjoyable and helps me boat more fish.

Thanks Mike, I figured the 8 would be a major factor. I have an 8'6'' which I can pretty much 8 the entire length of my boat and it has been very helpful. I have landed the majority of my fish this year on it and had little problems fighting fish and keeping them in in the water. If you don't mind me continuing to pester you what reel do you pair your new rod with?

Generally speaking I normally use Calcutta 400 TE's. I have other reels that are back ups, but I perfer to use the TE's over my Luna's and Calcutta B's.
