Wondering what keeps you busy through the long winter.

It's ice fishing for big pike and a few walleyes, maybe a family snowmobile trip up north with some ice fishing negotiated in. End of March and April it's Steelhead on the flyrod.

I will be working on the musky club stuff more, Milwaukee Musky Show and New London Musky Magic. Only problem is these don't help get my mind off of muskies.

Ya I know you Southerners don't have a closed season, but I don't need you to rub it in.

My current projects that I'm procrastinating right now are putting the trolling boat away, refilling the wood room, and I will be getting ice fishing gear ready this week.

Three muskie shows and the Madison Expo from opening to close; of course that's work for me, but it's good work. LOTS of ice fishing, we are contracted to shoot 30 videos this winter. I'm going to specialize on jigging game fish in the first batch, I think. Deer hunting until tagged out or Jan. 3 comes. Snowshoe hunting if the snow allows, we don't have a beagle and need to be able to move around easily in the swamps.

Do some ice fishing to fill the freezer with dinners so during the season I don't have to and can spend my time chasing more important fish. Besides that I spend a lot of time in the field with my pet .22-250 chasing Coyotes and fox which helps pay for my summer expenses fishing Muskie. Then to top it off I'll make a few of my big (12"-14") trolling baits when I have time. Basically it all still revolves around Muskie fishing in one way or another.

I will shoot indoor Target archery, and hopefully get in a bit of ice fishing this year too. Do a little rod building while I watch the fishing shows on a Saturday Morning as well.

I tie and build rods. I try to get my shelf stock built up so when orders come in during the fishing months I'm not spending that time tying. I'll be on the Equator for a couple of months starting in a three weeks, then back to get the boat ready and everything else in order for next year's season.

Hockey, Hockey and more Hockey we have at best 30 games planned for this year (from Dec. to Feb.). When not playing hockey I am planning on some ice fishing, getting ready for next year, and add a few muskie shows into the mix and the off season shouldn't be to bad. yeah right

Watch my kid play hockey and try to build some lures. Not much progress with the lures so far, but I'm no professional woodworker, that's for sure.

Tim,

Now, thats funny. Somehow my daughter was born smack dab in the middle of deer season. You've inspired my to see if I was out of town sometime in Febuary 14 years ago. Come to think of it where the heck were you in Febuary 14 years ago. LOL

Larry ...

our business is located just north of the airport in San Jose just up the hill from Carriari area in Global Park. i also spend a lot of time in the melon fields up in Liberia and Guanecasta. i'm going back and forth now but once mid january hits will be down there 3 weeks out of the month. i stay at the Double Tree Carriari when i'm there and hope to venture out to do some fishing next year.

i'm traveling throughout the Caribbean and Central America and would love to do both the peacock bass and the tributary tarpon thing. the offshore marlin thing sounds expensive and like something i wouldn't be as fired up about.

jason ... flights are cheap and you can crash with me.

Jason,I stay at Villas Río Mar is situated 21 miles (35 km) from the town of San Isidro del General on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, a short walk from Dominical Village and the unspoiled beach. It's a three hour drive on a good paved road from San José.My wife's sister is building three cabanas on their property this year.Tarpon fishing is best on the carribean side at river mouths,Sailfish is best on pacific side, from Quepos south. We usualy drive over the mountians to Dominical/Uvita the same day we fly in.

Going to try for some Browns this winter for a change.
Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison & Rockford fishing shows. Need a few three rods & reels this time around.
Reels all need to be re-conditioned, replace all line on all.
Make leaders & QS rigs.
Replace hooks & split rings on a few lures.
Replace eyelet tips on 2 rods. Try to fix one with busted tip.
Clean out all tackle boxes, re-sort and re-pack.
Confirm a few trips for 2010.
look at Lake maps galore & mark best routs on the driving maps.
Fix or replace one depthfinder.
Find out why the OB motor trim suddenly does not want to work, then just as suddenly will work. That scares me!
Replace/Install new CD player/stereo & speakers in boat, add another set of speakers in back.
Install on board battery charging system.
Fix battery harness's so they are secure & are legal, replace broken strap mounting brackets. Correction, replace ALL strap brackets!
Fix existing prop & purchase backup prop.
Replace broken or burnt out bulbs on trailer.
Replace winch & strap on trailer.

Perfect, I just copied & pasted this on my to do list!
