I knowwe're not talking muskies here but does anyone here on M1st have any experience fishing in Aruba? (fly or casting) I'm going late march. Guide recommendations or warnings appreciated as well as
any tips and clues for Midwesterner would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I tried fishing from shore..a few different days...but nothing...I did take a charter out...400 bucks for 2 king and mahi...save your money on the charter.....not worth it imho.

Not really looking to go deep sea but rather shore and or flats fishing. Looks like prie time for bone fish. Tarpon and permit also a possibility. I have never caught or even tried for any of these.so anything anyone can offer on any of theseeven if you caught them elsewhere would be appreciated.

I've fished Aruba a couple times, both without a guide (only because getting a guide seemed like a total waste to me.) Bones aren't a "mega" target for them, and they really haven't taken the time to learn to spot or target them the way a bonefish guide would, so it was better for me to have someone drop me and a buddy at Malmo (a major flat) and go to it on our own. The best advice I can give you is take Charlie's and Gotchas in pink, brown and white. Some bonefish specials won't hurt, either.
That said, we had more fun on the west side with baby tarpon and some big snook than we did with anything else. There are also some BIG jacks around there that can be had on almost anything you throw at them. There are a few other species that are a riot to play with as well. A general saltwater assortment should suffice as far as fly patterns go.
Good luck, have fun. PM me with Q's if you need to.
