Hi,

I am looking for some ideas for a good all around reel at an affordable price, to put on a 7'6" St. Croix Premier. I will be using this setup for most of my heavier stuff, but I don't throw anything super huge.

Thanks in advance,

Craig R.

Take a look at the ABU Inshore 6500 this reel has StainlessSteel gears, both the main and pinion gears are S.Steel, Dual Anti-Rrev this reel has a pawl to backup the bearing, CarbontexDrag washers, also comes with 2 handles, one is a stock 90mm handle, and a 90mm Power Handle. Retail for $189.95 and you will get a pair of Wiley X Sunglasses for free A $126.00 value !!!!!! or take a look at the Pro Bass Pete Maina reels for $69.95 on sale, you can get them in 4.2:1 or 5.2:1 gears, and if it breaks take it back to Pro Bass and get a new one !!!!

So far i like my inshore reel. Fisherman's Factory outlet had the 6600 reconditioned for 89 bucks but they do have the 5600 for that. They also carry the new ones too. Great reel.

I thought those Pete Maina reels were no longer available since they were working on a new design.

shimano Cardiff if you want something reasonably priced... Approx $110.. good reel for that money

if you want to go up to $230, AVID or Calcutta 400b. I put the 400b on my MH 7'6" SC and it is quite a nice setup. The reel and rod are the perfect match.

How about the Abu 6500cl Big Game reel. Made in Sweden and is only $106.95 at the Catfish Connection site. What a deal! Kdawg

Does any one know if all the reels like Pete Mania, Pfleuger Trions, the Okuma Indurons, etc. are all coming out of the same factory and they either add more bearings in certain modelsor another, anodizing to effect price etc. It seems they look like the same castings to start with and then go from there.

I think the PFLUEGER and the PETE MANIA and the GANDER MTN reels are made by the same CO. Pro Bass has the P/MAINA reels listed as new for the 5.2:1 gear ratio but clearnance on the 4.2:1 gear ratio, but at $69.95, good reel for a good $$$$ The Okuma Indurons are no longer being made, I don't know why ???????? Okuma web site shows 2 cheap reels, Akena and a Chromer ?? and the Red Isis as a limited reel. Like I said the ABU Inshore 6500 with Dual Anti- Rev and Stainless Steel gears, both the pinion and main gear is a hell of a reel.

Sworall,

Any idea on specs, a release date and price point on the new reel?
