This will probably get pulled but I want to hear some opinions on this.
How many people get tired of the fact that 3/4 of the musky lures on ebay are just lure manufacturers selling their products? Is there anyway to block the manufacturers and just see the private sellers? I mean if I want to buy the manufacturer lures then I'll go to their website. Just had to vent as this is the reason I quit ebaying about six months ago and decided to check it out but I guess it's gotten worse.

I think there's an "auction only" option. Usually I search by lure name (pacemaker, weagle, etc).

Unfortunately they put them in the auction only sites too. Gets to be a drag to get on there at times.

Another funny thing is that I never see any of their stuff with bids. Get a hint already. Haha. The Brittani Spears/Jack Daniels/Golden Retreiver/Miller Lite bottle cap "spinners" are sweet though.

Yup, drives me nuts too. They should have a limit as to how many lures you can put up and then make you go to "The Sellers Store" if you want to see more.
EBay aint what it used to be, but during the winter you could usually find a few gems. I did all of my Christmas shopping on EBay

By doing an advanced search for musky muskie, and selecting exclude sellers with theese names you can eliminatre a lot of the "clutter".

foosmanor,amo.fish,grumpy-midget, thebookpile, sam10270, 815davek, luresbymike, bassmaster912, beachandfish, tacklebooty, lite1553, meimeecali, sgcool, jdlhunt77, bhlures, kingfisherdesigns09, accesseventure, profishing2003, gloomisus, zipcode4, ekofishing, aegissales, iamhoo, tossabout, realfishbaitcompany, guidedogtackle, optimum1, mrpappas, johnr4980, live4dgame, muskellunchlures, hookonlandy, dana4774, gizmobundy, ellis6020, crazy4musky, samurai-lures

No oofense if anyone isin this list, but it cleans out a lot of the stuff I don't want to see.

You can further refine by selecting more specific categories like, sporting goods, outdoor sports, fishing, etc.

When I do a search just within freshwater fishing with these settiings I get about 400 items.

Agreed. You can filter out individual sellers. You also see it alot with Simms fishing gear as well. There's two stores, one in San Fran, and one I don't remember where, but they put their entire inventory on there, and Buy It Now. And you search and get 3,000 items. Filter them out, and you get about 500. Some stores I don't mind, but other do go overboard and just flood the searches, but it must be working for them and making them money, or they'd not do it. More power to them. That's why they have advanced searches on there.

Can I ask why you exclude these sellers? Is it simply a matter of their products that you have no interest in or is it because of the quantity of items they list or something else? Im asking because some of these are reputable sellers that Ive bought from, most notably tacklebooty, a sponser here I believe, and your list covers a wide range of products. Most of the sellers on your list Ive actually never run across and some I recognize as junk dealers but some are selling quality items.

Why the anonimity? Stand up for yourself if you think you must.
The crap that I'm talking about is the endless stream of Salmon/Walleye lures that would never be used for muskies, but the maker/seller throws muskie and pike into the description just to get extra coverage.

Beav, I've actually sent an email to a couple of those guys bringing up just this point. Lets just say they were pretty proud of their "muskie lures" and were insulted that none of us wanted to see them on the searches any more. This was about a year or two ago.

I stated that I filter out stuff "I" don't want to see on a regular basis... That is my choice. I like to look for customs, hard to find, unique baits, not mass marketed stuff.

If I want Tacklebooty products, I know exactly where to go to get them. I probably purchased over $300 wrth of stuff from James this year. I would say that with James as the exception, most of the products listed by the other users would not really even qualify as muskie baits.

In short, I get more of what interests me with my filtered list.

Its funny that everyone complains about it, Ebay will not refuse money from anyone, they make money per posting, so why should they care how much someone posts an item. As long as the product is what it says, and seller delivers the product, no harm done. Sure its an eye sore to see the same thing over and over, but you can avoid sellers like Chadster said. The underground makers dont have the money to buy real advertising, so this is what they can afford. We should be happy we have off brand lures being made, this makes competition, which lowers price (usually), and creates new products for us all. There are great sellers on MuskieFirst, whats the need for ebay anyways for lures? I want to buy something a seller stands behind. Sure you can save a few bucks, but I almost bet if you get a lemon the only thing you will get from an standard ebay seller is the run-around. Id pay the few extra bucks to support the people I know give a #*^@ about the product and muskie fishing in general, the companies that are truley part of the sport and support it should be the people we buy from IMO.
