| Just a curious question. Had my planer boards going 4mph sunday pulling monster shads and that was about as fast as they could stand. I was curious what all of you think the range for speed trolling is. |

| I am definitely still in the beginning stages of the learning curve here, but 3.5 up is fast to me. My Dad used to run MUCH faster pulling spoon plugs. Gotta try that again soon.... |

| I don't know, but me and fishing partner used a 7.5 evinrude on a 16 foot boat running wide open trolling rattle traps. |

| Personaly I would consider anything over 4 mph as sped trolling. |

| I would guess that 4 mph would be "speed trolling" but we pull Spoonplugs and Hellbenders at 8.5 to 9 mph with great results. |

| I'm with Steve W. on this one! Anything over 3.5 mph is fast for me. I usualy stay between 2.0 and 3.0 mph.I will make a statement:"I have never caught a Musky over 50" going faster then 3.0 mph"!I have had over 50 Muskies over 50" to the boat at 3.0 mph and slower!I have caught Muskies as fast as 8.5 mph,but usualy on the inside rod on a turn and most are smaller male fish 35 to 40 inches in legnth.

I'm a old spoonplugger from way back but I got of got away from them when I started muskie fishing. Some questions if I may. What is your largest fish? Do you get numbers of decent fish? What size spoonplugs do you use the most? Do you long line troll them or is it behind a planer board? Are you trolling over the weed tops or along weedlines/breaklines? Do you ever cast with them?
I hope that I'm not asking for any of your secrets. If you don't want to answer I understand. I'm just asking for your basic method and what your results have been. Thanks |

| I would consider speed trolling is anything over 5 MPH as I normaly start at 4 MPH. I never troll under 4 untill late fall where I slow down to work my oversized baits and the cold water fish.
So most my big fish come at 5 MPH or more, well my 6 trolling fish this week did anyways. [:p] |

| I would have to say 3.5mph or more in my opinion is speed trolling. This year in the fall high speeds paid off.[;)] |

| Hey Guys,
I think Capt. Larry hit it on the head. Even though we can catch fish running VERY fast trolling, these big girls are lazy, and don't want to work too hard I don't think.
This past weekend, my 8 year old, Colton, caught a 48"er trolling over 60 feet, with the bait running 7.5 feet, at 2.6 m.p.h.
We had 3 other hits, all between 2.6 and 2.9 m.p.h.
