| Normally I won't put an epoxy coat on BEFORE painting, I normally seal my baits after i shape them, drill all the holes and whatever, prime them, paint them, and add a layer or two of D2T or Etex. However, if it's a foiled bait, and ONLY a foiled bait, I will put epoxy on underneath and above the foil before painting, to help it adhere. Also I want to try topcoating my lures this year with one layer of D2T and one layer of Etex over that. A lot of people say that sealing muskie baits with epoxy is needed, but as long as you have a good top coat it really isn't. Now, thinned epoxy with acetone or denatured alcohol is a GREAT sealer, IMHO, as long as you let it soak into the bait for long enough.
