Location: Kodiak, AK | My 25C on my console just crapped itself. The screen won't hold bright, and flickers. It is the unit, I've swapped the wiring and fuse block, and then even took it down to West Marine and plugged it into their display power cord, and it still flickered, so it's dead.
I'm just going to get an HDS 8, but is the 25C salvagable? Everything on it still works, just the screen flickers, and is dark more than light, so you can't see it during the day. I thought I'd read somewhere where you can send them to a private party that repairs them. Am I off base, or did I actually read that? I'd like to keep it as a spare or even sell it. I've already had offers on the broken unit as-is!! |

Location: Kodiak, AK | And yes, I did do a search on here, and didn't find anything on it.... May have been BBC where I read it, but their site has some issues right now and their search function isn't working much lately. Any help here? |

Location: north central wisconsin | My 25C went on the blink in late July and I sent it in directly to Lowrance(Navico). It took a couple of months and cost $312.00, but I was given(after some prodding) an LCX 27C in return. I felt this was worth it, as my unit was 3 years old. It would have cost much more to buy new, no doubt. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | As far as I know, there are no private party repair services for Lowrance units. Get a hold of Lowrance, they might be able to do something with you for a small fee. There are instances where they have given previous customers in the same situation a newer unit for a couple hundred bucks. It's worth a try but don't hold your breath seeing that unit is probably five years old or older. |

| I don't know of any private party that can fix Lowrances or if it would even be worthwhile for you, however I do know a number of people that traded in their dud Lowrance unit along with $200 for a reconditioned Lowrance unit or using that dud unit as credit towards a new HDS unit. For that you need to contact Lowrance however and go thru them. What you are talking about happened to my buddies x20, we got into the troubleshooting part of the unit and everything came up as "FAIL" and that is the deal he went with. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Yeah, I just called. They offered me the $312 repair fee, and said it'd be four weeks. I held my tongue, but thought to myself..."more like four months." I've heard about the credit towards a new unit, but the guy on the phone didn't offer that up.
I'm not going to drop $300+ on an older unit that may just crap itself again a week after I get it back. |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Yup--generally Garmin and Lowrance have set dollar amounts for reconditioning individual units regardless of the problem. I did that with all three of my Garmin units last winter (they were leaking after a hailstorm experience) and it cost me around $500 clams total--to me it was worth it b/c now I have 3 like-new units--no way I could replace those 3 units for anywhere near that price and I didn't have the $$$ to buy all new outfits...so for me it was worth it.
Check around on google and ebay and you can find reconditioned units at a reduced price with the same warranty as a new unit. |

What number did you call exactly? Just curious... |

Location: north central wisconsin | I am not sure exactly what is wrong with your unit, but if it is the same issue mine had(sounds like what mine was doing before it totally went out and wouldn't turn back on), it was not able to be repaired, and they replaced it, which was well worth the $312. Might be worth the diagnosis fee just to see if it is worth repairing, and if they'd replace the unit if not, if that is possible. |

| I just had a similar problem with my 334C. I could easily fix it myself but they don't sell parts. Lowrance told me to send it in for reconditioning at around $225.
Fish Lectonics wouldn't even touch it. They also said to send it in to Lowrance. |

| There is a guy who repairs Lowrance units in Port Clinton, OH. I have been to his shop, and he mainly refurbishes the old LMS-350's, X-15's, and sells them cheap. I am at work, and do not have the number with me or I would give it to you. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Well done deal now. My HDS 8 will be here next week. Probably have the 25 repaired and keep as a spare or mount next to my 27 on the bow and run one as sonar, one as GPS. |
