| Hey what is the best GPS Map chip for Minnesota, LakeMaster ProMap Series 2009 or the Navionics HotMaps Premium 2009?
I am still using a Lowrance LCX-25C. I know upgrade!
My most fished lake is only listed as an enhanced mapped lake on both |

| ive used the older of each brand, and the lakemaster seemed more accurate to me.. a few times near shore with the navionics chip, it would actually show me being on the shore!!
so i would go with the lakemaster, myself.

| My Navionics chip on my main lake is always off by 15 - 20 yards and will show me on shore. Not sure if it is the mapping of that lake or what. I appreciate the feedback |

Location: In a shack in the woods | I have used both brands chips. I like the navionics for the fact it has more lakes on it, and the color contrast for different depths of water. That makes finding midlake structure much easier. It does ocasionally show me on shore. To solve it turn the unit off then on again, sometimes it takes a couple trys before it reads your location right. The navionics has less lakes but more and better detail. I can see owning both for the reasons stated. About twice a year I have to borrow my navionics chip out to friends in bass tourneys that don't have the lake map on their lake master.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | All depends on where your fishing really. Some bodies of water are better with the Navionics chip and others are better with the Lakemaster Chip.
What waters do you spend most of your time on?
I know Navionics has improved a lot of their maps this year(the 2009 chip). They spent a lot of time on MN/WI waters last year(2008). Here is an interview with Jeff Brodeur at the 2009 NPAA meeting. This might answer some questions.

| One thing I learned is that my Garmin GPS needs to be set at a certain "GPS language" (forgot the exact name of the setting) for my Fishing Hot Spots chip. Once I set that right, I'm spot on. I found out on the FHS website after using the chip for 4 years or so. |

| I finally broke down and bought the LakeMaster HotMaps MN 2009 chip and will compare it to my previous Navonics Chip in my Lowrance LXC-25 this weekend. I will post what differences I experience on a couple of lakes I will be fishing. |
