8 gauge wire should be fine. If you have a long run, going 6 gauge would be better since it would have less resistance in the line.

Gander mountain, Fleet farm, and I believe Cabelas all carry trolling motor wire, but your local hardware store might carry it as well.

Just be sure you install a 50 amp inline fuse or better yet get a 50 amp automatic reset circuit breaker that attaches at the end of the wire and has a brass flat end to attach to the battery post.

6 gauge regardless of run length and yes on the 50 amp.

minn kota book says warranty is void if 6 gage is not used.
