Looking to replace a reel that was stolen. Looking at possibly a Revo Toro, Abu 7000 or maybe a Record 60. This reel will basically just throw 9 & 10 blades. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Toros work ok. How about a 400te compared to the Toro? Would the 400te crank em in a little easier with a power handle?

I've got the Big Game 7000 and it works pretty well for that as well as anything else that is heavy. Good gear ratio for high speed retrieve and the gears are much larger and better suited for the wear and tear.

If you put a power handle On a 400te you will tear the handle off and shred the pinion gear. Get a trinidad or saltist these don't fail. As for the 7000 big games my buddy smoked 4 in a week and a half then abu called him asked him what he was using them for he said 2x10 blades and rubber. Well the abu guy tells him that the reels are not made for that application.

Dont buy the Record 60 for that purpose, it will break. 7000HSN so far, so good.

I've gotta say that I love my Saltist. Took a week long trip to Canada and threw it almost exclusively and it never gave me one single issue. I'm finding out that it's pretty hard to slow roll a cowgirl with it though. That's the only drawback that I've been able to find with it.

I've got a 400TE, 400B, Toro's, Curado, Salist 30LW, 6300 - The 400TE is with a power handle is by far the easiest to crank in 2x10's & 13's IMO. Pretty effortless, but may not be the best application for trying to burrning them. I absolutely love this reel.

Call thorne ask for Pat and ask him he'll say Trinidad none of the other reels listed are going to hold up to big blades. My 400te was back to shimano 3 times this summer. If you fish more than 4 days a week spend the money and buy a Trinidad.

I was told by two seperate reel repair experts that the Penn 975 is the reel for that. That is what they use. That is my next purchase. It might be heavy, but at least it will last.

avet sx 2 speed...lighter weight than most others...two reels in one...blows big blades out of the water with little effort when in high gear...press a button and you have your low gear for slow rolling or whatever...small sideplate for easy palming...comes in left hand crank model as well for us who prefer that...MADE IN THE USA...!

Is that the Trinidad power handle that is to thick for the TE?

I purchased a Trinidad this summer just for that purpose. The Guys at Thorn Brothers convinced me there is not a better reel out there for this purpose. On my first trip with it this summer I had a smile on my face for the first hour. Easy to use once you get used to it. Not only is it great for Big Blades but you can really burn the small the bucktails with this reel! I mean you have to but the rod tip in the water to keep the bait from coming out the water. When I'm slow rolling I go back to my Luna.

Ran my saltist 40 HA 5:4 to 1 today. I had a problem slowing down enough to not
blow the bait out of the water. If it will stand the test of time is yet to be determined though.

I use a TE700 and it pulls in double 10's,12's and 13's like rooster tails! Completely effortless!

I have been also using the Avet this summer and it is my favorite reel for 10s and bigger pulling baits. I have blown TE's and 7000s in the past. This one has held very well.
