I have a shimano corvalus 301 which has served me well so far but i also have an older model abu garcia 5501 c3 with a 4.9:1 gear ratio that i use for fluke fishing here in jersey. I was wondering which reel would be better for pulling bucktails. The c3 feels like it has more torque but the newer shimano has better components in it?? any ideas???? thanks chris

normal bucktails no double 10s or anything big like that. just your average bucktails like mepps marabous and blue fox # 6 french blades. im not looking to buy a new reel just looking for suggestion on which one is i mentioned is better for the job.

Yeah very true Muskiemetal! Or "Best reel for DBL10's" lol
muskyyaker - Out of those 2 start with the cheapest one ($$) first so your not too mad when it goes down. No really the C3 should work fine, at a regular retrieve speed.
