I bought a Revo Toro 60HS for pulling bigger blades.
Did I screw up buying the HS? It seems to me that If I wanted more torque, the regular speed would fit the bill.
Can someone clear this up for me?
Thanks.

Yeah your running a risk of damage IMO by buying those gears to pull blades - at least fast. I only use my HS for jerkbaits to pick up the slack and topwater baits and use the regular 5:4:1 for pulling blades at any speed. I should have the winch anyday now, which will then by my slow rolling, dawg rippin reel. No matter what you still have a great reel.

the 5.4 and 6.4 to 1 are not the reels for big blades imo...the 4.6 to 1 Winch would be a good reel for blades at regular speeds and at night..but not to burn them...better choice for big blades at speed is a Saltist 30 or Trinidad 16N...

So I am basically ass-backwards, figures. I will try using my Calcutta te400 5.0:1 for the cowgirls and the revo toro 6.4:1 for jerks. Makes sense.
Thanks.

Your REvo Toro 6.4:1 - is great for burning #8 blades and smaller. Try it for double showgirls, I think you'll like it. In addition to jerkbaits, it will also work for topwaters and smaller twitch baits IHMO.

I've had 2 Revos drags fail. Don't buy the hype!

Most cases like that are user error, sorry but true. With as many that went out the door if they were bad we would hear a lot more about it. So one here and one there, I assume will be and is user error.

Haven't heard of a single drag problem on the Toro's and one guy (who has 2 posts on this site) claims to have two reels with drag problems. Hmmmmmmm!

Toros are getting awfully good reports, and I think I am heading down that road for my next reel.

I love my toro... If i wasnt a poor college kid I would have them on all of my musky sticks. I would say its as close to invincible as they come. knock on wood
