Hey all, just had a question for yas.. I have a new rod, 8'6" extra heavy, and ive caught pike and even bass on it, but i have hooked two musky with it, and both fish came off after about 5- 10 seconds.. I thought i stuck em both pretty good, hooks were sharp, etc.

Just curious if you think it had anything to do with the heavy action of the rod that these fish didnt stay stuck...

thanks

Dave

There have been some issues with XXXH rods losing fish for lack of playability, but no, I would think you should be fine with XH gear.

I feel your pain. I lost a mid 40's saturday and a 50 plus tonight. Both on the same rod a slingblade. SomethingsI suppose just get chalked up to bad luck. I personally blame it on Murphy's Law Saturday at the Muskie's Inc. meeting I was bragging up how I had yet to loose a fish this year. Wham I loose one that night and then tonight. The one tonight potentially being the biggest fish for me. I need to keep my big mouth shut
