I did a search and couldn't come up with anything.....

We have a fiberglass fish n ski. I want to make 3' long "boards" that we can hang lures on. These boards will be velcro'd to the RS and LS of the boat next to the rear passenger seat that goes across the width of the boat.

My question is what material do you think I should use? I was thinking of a simple 1 x 6 pine board but over time the wood will chunk out with the hooks being put in and taken out. Pine boards would be cheap to replace though.

I don't want to do anything permanent...i.e. drill holes etc.

Any other ideas out there?

Maybe those PVC boards that bumpboards are being made out of now. You'd have to drill holes along the top side of the board for the hooks to go in, but that stuff should last.

Good idea! I was going to go to Home Depot or Menards to look for vinyl siding that another person suggested for making my bump board.

you actually gave me a good idea on how to make a bump board and you could use it to make your hangers too. Get some of the 4"X4" PVC covers (that cover a 4x4 post and cut that up to make your bump good sturdy material. I cut it and used it to make holders and put them in a milk crate and it works great.

another sugggestion would be to take closed cell foam or even a flanoodle (pool toy) and mount those to your boards. easy, cheap, and effective and you can replace it quickly when it does give out. My dad always hooked his lures to the sponsons in our radison canoe kinda the same concept.

All great ideas! I'm going to look for some of those 4 x 4 covers for a milk crate.

I went to Menards and found 11/16" x 6" x 7' plastic door jamb material. They even had it in two colors (tan and darker brown). The door jamb material is lighter weight due to the serrations (?) on the back. I'm going to cut it in half, drill holes in the top and mount it using Velcro. Right now I'm assuming the industrial strength Velcro squares I bought will hold these things up.

Will post pics once I'm done.

The foam water toy idea is a good one too!

I drilled the holes pretty much like you suggested. I installed rivnuts (some people call them clinchnuts) to the inside of the boat and have the boards bolted to the sidewalls. I covered the boat for the "big wind" tonite. I'll take some pics in the next couple of days and post them up. I'm pleased with how it looks and performs.
