I am going to be fishing the Flambeau flowage from oct 12 to the 19. Its iron red water and sometimes very shloow at this time of year. How would you experts approach this lake? Lure type, and color, and locations would be great .Lets say that there are no cold fronts!!! We also fish a small clear water lake that the max depth is 18 feet 98% hard bottom ,tons of cribs. What lure types and colors would you use there. Its a pearch based lake. Thanks for the info!!

Try doing a search on this very site for fall patterns.  Although, no better way to learn than on the water.  New body of water?  Cover water, fish fast.

Stu, you should be able to find some suckers at a more local baitshop. I would definitely suggest using them if possible (quick-strike rigs only). Aside from this, I would use bright, contrasting jerkbaits in any weeds that are still green; as well as, using topwaters early in the day. Topwaters can be very productive that time of year. Good luck and be sure to report back on here how you did.

Don't get lakebound, there are many lakes in the area that may have more active fish in numbers than the TFF. If things aren't going, pick up the boat. Many of the smaller lakes in the area have weededges that are easy to follow and that concentrate fish. Make sure you have a set of oars in the boat.

Squirrel lake is right there.. Just take a right on Squirrel lake road off of 70 heading East. Great fall lake right in your area.

Stay with TF. It's a great lake. Kind of a mix between the Chip and Moose. Try throwing flo. orange/black topwaters or twitch baits. Always have a sucker hanging from a QS rig at about 5' deep. Any deeper and you'll snag on the wood too often. But that's deep enough with the dark water. If the sucker won't stay down, add a 1/2 oz rubber core weight right above the leader. There's a LOT of wood in there, so expect hits to come in 5"-8" of water over top of old tree stumps. Be careful navigating, or you'll be buying a new prop. Good luck.

experiment with top water baits. Something that makes alot of noice. Try to work it in an erratic pattern. It will attract attention.

Almost 4 feet low right now. Which landing you go out of? Springstead, sportsman's or fisherman's? Trading post off 182 has suckers, but a good cooler and ice water will keep em alive for hours. Go any faster than idle and you WILL thump some stumps.
