Location: Southern Ontario, Detroit River and Lake StClair | Just wondering how many times you guy will fish a "fishy" looking spot after not seeing anything after a few tries at it? I have been fishing this mid river sunken up for about the last three weeks. It's about a 1/2mile long, tops out in 3-4FOW with a 5-7ft deep ledge along its edge that then drops into 26-30FOW. The top and shelf are covered in weeds that come up within 2-3ft from the surface. It's loaded with bait fish, close to deep water and a partial current break and we've yet to raise a fish on it. I'm just trying to decide if we should give up on it or keep pluggin' at it. It's just that its one of those spots that looks soooooo good.
Thanks
Tim

| me and my dad have a spot in canada we have fished sooo many times in the past. we've caught tons of pike and raised a huge huge muskie years ago, but have never caught a fish on it. well finally this last summer on our trip i got a 45in in the figure 8 which ended up being the biggest of our group.
id say keep pluggin' away, if it looks that good a fish will be on it. you just gotta be there at the right time!!!

Location: Kodiak, AK | I'd say keep going too. Is it in the DR? (I don't fish the DR, so I'm not familiar with it, other than flying over it.) I say fish it and throw everything you've got at it. Have you talked to Bondy? He's a master at jigging the river. |

Location: davis,IL | Obviously has great features in the "structure" department. One question... Have you ever just cruised the general vicinity...watching your locator...for the fish hanging off the structure? I think I fish the same water as Bfunk, and the spot looks familiar. While this spot looks prime, it's also hit pretty hard, so the fish use nearby structure more. They also kind of hang out between the spot's. |

Location: Ontario | I got a 52 one time off a spot that I had checked every trip for close to ten years. And to this day, that's the only muskie I've seen or hooked there. Lots of huge accidental smallmouth and some big pike, even lake trout real late in the year. The spot is just too good to drive by. One stop just like a thousand other stops, less than ten casts, bang. Can you believe that? This probably goes against what lots of guys do, but a super-looking spot that's a ghost town every time you stop is a good bet for a good -sized fish. I really think they're rest stops or 'holding pens' like Dick Pearson talks about. Fish are on the move and these spots hold them for a while while they're travelling. They don't visit daily our hourly, maybe not even weekly. Here today gone off the face of the earth tomorrow. Actually quite a few spots I fish you'll never see a follow, never catch a pike, if there's a muskie there, she'll smack your bait. You and he happen to meet at the same time on the same spot and there's no messing around. Your spot sounds terrific, hope it takes you less than ten years! I'd hit it until something happens.
