Eddiebait

I used a 9”Eddiebait for 2 years and was amazed at its ability to draw pike in impossible conditions.

I only used it as a blank saver and regret not using it as a first choice lure.

I sold it on as heavy lures were wrecking my elbow and wrist.

As a result I was forced to changing and learning with my other arm and want to get hold of another Eddiebait.

The burning question is that there are 2 schools of thought.

Keep the thick steel leader it comes with or get shut.

Whilst waiting for delivery I am very interested as to the results owners have had.

I did very well without the leader.

Cheers Rob.

I don't quite understand some statements you made.

"I only used it as a blank saver and regret not using it as a first choice lure."

Meaning that you only use it when nothing else works?

"I sold it on as heavy lures were wrecking my elbow and wrist."

Meaning that you sold the only one you had?

"Keep the thick steel leader it comes with or get shut."

What does "get shut" mean? I often will take off the single strand leader and place a split ring on the nose of the Edddie baiit and use a double looped single strand leader. You never want to use a leader in front f the leader that comes with it.

"Whilst waiting for delivery I am very interested as to the results owners have had."
Caught my share of muskie and numerous pike on eddies. Another great bait for every pike in the lake is a Suick.

"I did very well without the leader."
Meaning what? How did you set this up? Did you even use any leader?

You might contact Larry Ramsell for advice on this. Historically he was a fan of the Eddy bait and also worked with the leader, bending it to get the roll into the bait. The best baits, as often the case with Jerks, roll belly up on the pull. I believe there are more productive baits available these days, but if I was casting in an open water situation, with little to snag on, I would have no problem in running an Eddy bait all day, especially this time of year.

I would always reccommend a leader, as these are true gliders, and tend to run up on the leader as it is.

Sorry if I caused confusion.
I was talking about the leader the Lure comes with, not the leader on the end of my braid.

In hindsight I was very stupid gettin shut of my 9" Eddibait as I am struggling to sourch amother.

I would be interesed in the more produtive baits you refer to.

Cheers Rob.
