Does anyone out there think that merc oil makes a difference to run specifically in a mercury or does any 2 cycle oil do the trick?

You could run any 2 stroke motor oil in your motor so long as it is TC3-W. One thing to watch for, though is that some will smoke way more than others. I, for one use amsoil HP Injector which is full synthetic. It has very little smoke, and because of that, does not foul my plugs up. It helps to keep my engine clean and running at its best. I am one who feels you get what you pay for....go cheap and you'll see the difference.... The few extra dollars you might spend on a better grade oil (may or may not be name brand) will go a long way for your engine.

HIya,

YOu can, although they recommend that you use as much of the conventional oil up first, then change over...
