I'm at my wits end with the "high end" reel. I've torn it down and cleaned it, oiled it etc. The cast is fine but I have a squeak that will not stop when reeling. Everything seems to be working fine other than the annoying squeak when turning the crank. I've oiled everything I can think of in this thing. I have two St Croix's which seem to be the same thing and (knock on wood) they don't squeak a peep.

Anyone have an idea on what I can do?

Thanks,
Labs

did you open up and oil / grease both "sides" of the reel?

yes...both sides...I really think the squeak is coming from the crank side because in my own scientific way (putting the reel by my ear when reeling) it seems to be squeaking on the crank side. I'm bumping this reel down on the depth chart until I get this figured out...

thanks for any help...Labs

my two lunas are now 5 years young and until three weeks ago when a tiny set screw inside the handle side of one of them vibrated loose and got caught in the main gear which locked it up, i had no reason to open up the "hard" side but glad i did. the crap / dirt that was in there amazed me! now it's smoother / quieter than when new! p.s.-i sprayed the heck out of it with wd 40 then dryed / oiled / greased it before re-assembling...
