My regular fishing partner has had 3 of these in my boat about the last 4 seasons. They're like a low profile bass reel on steriods. They have the same line cap and roughly the same spool dia. as a 6500 C3 but they are even smaller than those little reels. The Cabo's a saltwater reel. The ones he uses have a fast retrieve (not sure what) and they are very small and light. For small hands or females, these would be ideal. He hasn't had many quality issues with them at all, but uses them only for picking up dead slack with jerkbaits/gliders, surface baits and burning small #5-#8 bladed lures. It handles all this with ease. I would like to see it go a month or two working larger blades quickly before commenting on their true durabilty. Like I said, they get used a ton, but their workload is very, very easy. One thing to bear in mind is that this is a reel that you can also get in Lefty..one of the reasons he went with them. He also bought a couple on EBay and they were both top quality, so I guess you can shop with confidence on that front. For light duty, I think these reels are pretty good. They have a clicker too, if you want to troll. It's in a bad spot though, along the side plate where you grip the reel. One of the drawbacks is burning out the clickers from them engaging/being in the way when casting. My buddy has electric tape over the button. This is a light-duty casting reel anyways, if you want my opinion. Holds up well to lots of use, just with a decidely light-pulling group of lures. Good luck SVT.

I have 2 1420's that get used mostly for jerk baits, They have held great for that.

hey SVT.. I'm Jbush' boat partner. The reels I use are the CBC31PTS (lefty, wide-spool version of the CBC20PTS). His description of what I use them for is accurate although I do throw smaller dbl-10 blade baits with them too but I do think that is approaching their limit. They reels have held up for 3 or 4 seasons now. For larger 10s or 13s I use an Abu 7001. Like mentioned, the clickers are craptacular if you are looking to troll with one.

I have one I use for steelhead fishing and haven't had a bit of problems with it despite heavy use in cold weather. I'm not sure they would be tough enough for musky baits though.
