has anyone ever done any trolling with 130 lb braid with a30lb diam. with baits as small as 6 " minnowbaits to as big as 13inch jakes.....any thoughts that it might be to heavy to use for pulling small baits or just flat out overkill for trolling?? any suggestions would be appreciated!!!!

Never tried 130# braid but I use 30# mono for my small bait trolling and it works just fine. Use 50# for the bigger lures.

I haven't trolled 130# braid, but regularly troll anywhere from 65# to 100# braid. I also run 20# Pline as well. Depending on what you are looking to fish depth wise and line lenght wise, I would vary your line diameter. For example, if you're looking to keep baits shallower, run heavier, wider diameter line. I don't know that braids are going to impact the running depth all that much though, since most have a fairly small diameter when compared to dacron or mono.

130 will be fine. I use cortland spectron 130 for almost everything.
