| The host resort is Spring Bay, and headquarters are at the Landing. The live broadcast of the virtual weigh in will be from the Landing, where a tent will be set up in advance for the event. |

| It's a two day event and the field will be announced the week of the event.
the MAC press release about the low numbers of boats in the Leech event stated that the MAC would be providing weekly updates on field and payout sizes for the rest of the year.
"Cass Lake appears much stronger, and regular weekly updates will be published on Cass and all other MAC events for 2009 so the public can see progress on recruiting contestants for the MAC and Hartman Series in September and October."
here's the link to the press release for reference:
http://muskieanglerscircuit.com/articles/09.03.2009/2545/Leech.Lake...
my assumption is that the MAC (wisely) decided to put the information out when it realized that doing so would actually HELP with recruiting more boats. i've talked to enough potential contestants who want the info to know that this is the case...

| We will have the updates for this week posted by Saturday morning. As you are aware, we are at the AIM International Championship until Friday afternoon. We have taken several calls this week and missed a few more (due to horrible cell reception) on the Vermillion and Cass events for new entries, and will check in with the office as to current payout level and entries so a release can go out Saturday when we get home.
Any questions can be asked at 920.723.3367 until Friday night and 715.362.1760 during the Holiday Weekend. I answered several MAC calls already this week by getting the number and driving to the nearest good cell service if the call is dropped, so anyone who needs to get to me easily can, as always. Mike, give me a call if you need more info, just not between 5 and 7:30 today and tomorrow because the live weigh in will be rocking here.
The payouts will be updated weekly as we go, and the 'field of contestants' along with angler profiles released the week of the event.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Jerome, We just rolled in from the AIM Championship 5 minutes ago.
We have taken 6 calls committing to fish since Thursday, so given that we'd have about 20 who have a deposit down or are committed at this point and several more who have emailed. If that holds, 30 isn't unreasonable. We still have a couple weeks, and there's a considerable number on the fence. We'll be calling and emailing prospects this Tuesday, and will place a payout schedule on the MAC website then and keep it updated as the dates approach.

Please get us the updates.
Some of us are leaving on Thursday because of the PMTT and will not have be able to get the info from the net after that.
Are the dates Sat / Sun for sure not Fri / Sat? |

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Yes, the dates are correct. Headquarters, blast off and weigh in are at The Landing, we will arrange for another East end take off spot at the rules meeting Friday night so those fishing the East don't have a long run by boat. Host Resort is Spring Bay. Registration begins Friday at 5 PM at the Landing. Entries taken up until 8 PM Friday night.
If we can get 20 boats the payout will be $6000.00 first, $3500 second, $1750 third, and $750 fourth.
So far we have commitments that would pay out $4000 first if they all stay in. Several have called over the last couple days and said they'd enter, but as of yet haven't, and we are on the phone today and tomorrow making contacts. Let's get this field to 40 boats, the first place check would then be as much as $12000.00. |

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Had a couple more call in and enter, will call the office tomorrow to see what they have and add those who have committed on the phone and via email. I'm also calling Steve from Spring Bay Resort tomorrow for an audio interview on the bite to date on Vermilion.
The dates, headquarters, weigh in site, rules meeting details, and host resort are posted. What else can I do for you?
See you there! |

| What else can I do for you?
could you post a firm number of participants or a minimum guaranteed payout? you've been saying all along that you would do so. i understand you might be hesitant to include "commitments" who might not show up, so what is the number of sure participants and the number of possible participants?
it's a critical aspect in deciding whether the costs incurred in driving 7 hours, lodging, road food, gas, and entry fees are worth the potential reward.

Posts: 32886 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Approximate Payout Schedule based on:
10 boats: 1st, $3000.00 Second $2000, third, $1000.
15 boats: 1st, $4500.00, $3000, $1500
20 boats: 1st, $6000.00, $4000, $2000
30 boats: 1st $9000.00, second $5000, third $2500 fourth $1500
Every 5 boats added adds another payout spot from 30 boats and up. We have several who have committed via telephone to fishing Vermilion and will pay at registration. At this point we have a deposit paid committed payout of between 10 and 15 boats with a few who have told us they would be at the rules meeting and sign up for the tournament. Don't forget the Tuffy Boats contingency of $1500 for the top finishing team running a Tuffy Boat.
A minimum 'guaranteed' payout is tough to do, because if a team has a 50% deposit in, and spoke to us promising they'd be there but drop out at the last minute for some reason, the dollars are not there for the payout. Let's put it this way, Mike, if you win right now, you would take home a total of $4500.00 locked and $6000.00 possible from committments, and we are doing our best to increase that number, which is looking good. See you there!
We also have a few more calls to make to interested parties, and will get updated 'field of contestant' reports added to this thread as soon as I have solid info in hand.
The bite has been excellent to incredible according to reports. I am speaking with Steve from Spring Bay at 5 PM to get a MuskieFIRST Radio report on what's been hot on vermilion. Word is he boated one yesterday and had several others going, but is guiding Walleyes and Pike today.

Posts: 157 Location: Arlington Heights, IL | Hey Steve,
Your reply to Mike, does that mean you have 10 in for $3,000 and his $1,500 bonus for Tuffy to get to $4,500.
Thanks, I have a buddy fishing it. |
|
|
|
| that's correct, Jim.
look at the chart he listed for boats/payout.
there is a $1500 contingency award to the team in a Tuffy boat that lands the most/largest fish, regardless of overall finish in the tournament.
it sounds like there's the potential for a couple more contingencies for next year, that would be really nice to see happen.

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Thanks Steve for the Vermilion updates. My partner and I are also fully paid for Cass Lake already so those updates will also be appreciated. Anyone on the fence, I'm only going to say the bite has been great recently and each stable day with decent temps are only improving it. We are expected to for the most part maintain this weather trend throughout the weekend. Lets grow that prize pool up, a lake this size with the numbers of anglers we're talking about is going to be a field day for catching. Better sharpen your hooks real well as it will likely have a chance at requiring huge numbers to win and can't afford to lose that critical bite!!! |

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | He's sittin right next to me, I'm up here. Hopefully action will be good, fishin solo mostly tomorrow as he has to work. You just might catch him, never know. That Saltist reel you picked up for him is awesome, checked it out. He is grateful. Too bad they don't make a lefty or I would have one probably too. And probably only do limited fishing, mostly scouting and checking some stuff he hasn't been spending time on. Have to meet you sometime Sorgy. Reel handle is kinda fixed, its working. |

You should be able to get ahold of my dad up at the end of Raps Road on Friday and pick up my reel if he has any problems with his. I won't be up for a couple more weeks yet. You can use the rod as well. All rigged up ready to go. Maybee change out the leader. I make my own and have faith in them but not for someone else in a tournament. Phone number ends in 0351 and he is Fred. Tell him it is for Jeremy.
Good Luck
Steve
p.s. maybee check out the line guides with a q-tip as well. Cover all the bases.
