| Do any of you use a sucker rig and bobber, or do you just let the sucker swim freely along the boat side at any depth? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Location: Madison Wi. Chain | I do both, one sucker off the back of the boat deep and on a bobber, usually run this one with some weight and try to drag close to bottom. Other rig of the side of the boat just out of sight of my eyes and with little or not weight and no bobber. Hope this helps. BG |

| I've used both. A bobber is nice for a "mantenance free" sucker, worked over the tops of weeds for example. It's nice when you are casting and you can just keep an eye on the bobber. Most times though, I like to add weight and run them close to the bottom. |

Location: Seymour, WI | I've had good luck running quick strikes on a bobber. When you have a sucker under a bobber but above the weeds, they stick out like a sore thumb and the muskies cannot resist it. |

| Thanks to those of you who replied. That helps a lot. For those who have one at the boat without a bobber, do you use a rod holder with that or what? |

| Rich, it all depends. If I'm in a place where I can run two lines, and it's worth casting, I will put the sucker rod in the rod holder. (or just set it within reach) If not? I'll actually hold onto the rod. Mostly it's because I actually feel like I m fishing then, I can control the depth of the scuker easily, and you actually get to feel the sucker freaking out and feel when a fish picks it up. That is worth sitting there holding the rod, just for the anticipation!

| thanks esoxaddict,
I am in waters that allow three lines per angler. So one will cast and one or two may be used with suckers. Thanks alot. |

Location: Contrarian Island | Rich, be careful...if you are on waters you are not allowed to troll..if you have a bobber out w a sucker on it and you are casting and using your trolling motor you are trolling and will get a ticket...now if you have say 2 oz of weight and hang a sucker vertically straight below your boat while doing the same thing, that is a gray area...imo a vertical line while pulsing the trolling motor is position fishing as it's written...If I ever got a ticket so be it but I doubt I will.
I've seen a boat on a lake every fall from IL with a fleet of bobbers out and going into the wind w/ the trolling motor...flat out trolling...
position the suckers at a depth you think the muskies are ...plain and simple...always a good bet to have one on bottom and one half way down....
guest: my biggest on a sucker is 47 x fat. biggest in boat on meat is 49.5.
my heaviest wi fish to date...
