Location: West Bend, WI | I just bought a new reel, the shimano curado 300 dsv. I'm not sure, but is this last year's model? I got it for $112 new, seemed like a good deal so I snapped it up. Anybody know the limitations of this reel? Should I shy away from throwing the mag dawgs with it? Thanks in advance for the info! |

| Great reel! This is one of my favorite, actually has been kinda like "bullet proof" for me. As far as throwing mags & pounders/ big Sue's, I think this reel is great for that. IMO you can use this reel for any thing including DCG's, although it's not probably the best tool for that job, I feel the reel can handle it. The question is can your wrist & arms? LOL

| Alot of people say it's a good reel. IMO, i can't use a bass reel for muskie fishing. its too small and you work twice as hard. At least that has been my experience. I like the bigger baitcasters like the SC Ac300, calcutta or even a trion 66. But it is a solid reel. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I love mine for your basic muskie fishing stuff (topwaters, spinnerbaits, small/med bucktails, jerkbaits). At $112 you got a steal! Let me know if the have any more cuz I'll get 2-3 of them!

| I used a Curado 300 dsv (I have five of these reels) for six days straight (10-12 hour days) throwing DCGs 90% of the time on LOTW. It held up! My arms and hands were shot but the real still works fine. Whether it will last another 80 hours doing this or not I do not know. I am going to try the Trinidad 16N and 12 next to see how they fair. Overall mine have done well with all lures. Time will tell.

| Sweet reels ... incredible price at $112 new! The only real disadvantage of the reel in IMO is that it does not have the line capacity of the Toro 60 or round reels. To compansate, I only put 65# test - hasn't been a problem, but then again, I don't use mine to chuck big baits. |

Location: Oshkosh | I love mine as a jerk bait reel. I put 80 pound Fire line tracer braid on mine, it is a very thin diameter line at the equivalent of 15 pound mono.

Location: West Bend, WI | Muskie treats- I found it at Gander Mountain in Germantown, WI. It was $100 off and they had a 20%- 25% off of some reels, that happened to be one of them. My brother and I bought the last two at that store. I think the sale ended yesterday. Glad to hear all the good stuff about that reel. Thanks guys! |

Huge +1, I have 5 of them now for various rods. They are fantastic reels. Just watch out if you fish late fall, ice will wreck them quickly.
I have a buddy that got 3 for $75 each when gander was clearancing them out last spring, I got 1...I hope they do that again soon...lol. |

One of mine has also become my Daughter's reel. Perfect for her, small, light and one of the easiest reel to cast without backlash issues. She casted on one of our outings for 7 hours musky fishing and only a couple backlashes ... and this was her first time using a baitcaster! |
