| Suicks are the main lure i'm referring to. Does anyone not like using these because of danger and difficulty unhooking fish? These are one of my favorite lures but I get pretty nervous when it comes time to unhook. Pike love them too and they sure do get wrapped in them. I fish alone alot and sometimes i don't use them for that reason. Not quite so bad when you have help.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Dang, i just messed a little muskie up on a suick a few hours ago, caught in the throat but he swam away with gusto, i think he'll be fine. I might have to try taking the middle hook off, sounds like a decent idea. |

| I put out a post on this earlier this year. I caught a Musky on the Suick and the hooks were in the fish everywhere and working against each other. Without my Knipex the fish would have been a gonner. I realesed the fish and decided to fish the Suick without the middle hook. 2 cast later I hook another decent fish, get it 4 feet from the boat and gone! It only had one hook in its front lip.
I now fish with all 3 and have had no problems since!
I also fish alone.

| I do carry a knipex in my boat and i guess the best thing to do is just go at them right away with the cutters. Hooks are cheap. It's them darn fisty pike that are to small to net that get me nervous.

| Part of the reason I take the hooks off is that I cannot stand when hooks foul, and Suicks with 3 hooks foul way to often for my liking. |

Location: oswego, il | I am not at all a fan of 8" or bigger lures with two hooks, too much area for a fish not to get a good hookup. We have all seen muskies with bad aim and a muskie can grab the bait just about any place. I like my chances better with three hooks. Like someone said earlier, good hook cutters like a knipex are a must. |

I hear what you are saying, as I have tried that too. When I remove the middle hook, I upsize the front and rear, and haven't noticed any comprimise in action or more lost fish.
Seems to work for me, but people should use what they are comfortable and confident in.
On a side note, I also do this with Depthraiders, as that lure is the worst at fouling with the current hook design.

Location: Freedom, WI | Todd and I have discussed this but I still feel 2 hooks are the way to go (Todd someday I will build you that 3 hook cranky) on 8" or smaller. With 2 hooks I feel it is the leverage on one hook instead of 2 that allows fish to get off. If hook placement allows put 2 split rings on the belly hook (like a chain) and drop it down and rotate it. It prevents the fish from getting leverage. I have found better hook ups and no lost fish when I do this to my personal glide baits and twitch baits. Maybe it is the way I work them but it seems to help. |

Location: Big Falls MN | On the suicks i have to stop fouling i just cut on of the hooks of each treble so the hooks lay flat on the belly of the bait and it doest hurt the action and also makes it easier to unhook the fish with out taking off the middle hook. |
