Hey the search function is not working for me for some reason....
I am wondering if any of you guys crossed the border without your passport or passcard. I am supposed to leave on monday and I still don't have mine, will they let me come back with just the receipt??? I have looked all over the web trying to locate the phone number for the border and can't find it anywhere!!!

Thanks
Tony

Doubt it. The receipt doesn't mean you have a passport just that you applied for one. They can reject you so if you don't get it soon you might be SOL.

When did you apply for yours?

If you are going to lake of the woods and have a big boat you can sneek in through baudette by water. Don't know what would happen if you got caught. It would actually be legal if you apply in person at the border and recieve a rabc permit from the candian customs. I am pretty sure you can get one on the spot.

You'll get back into the US without a passport. Bring a birth certificate with raised seal, SS card and driver's license. May get held up a little longer, but they're not going keep you from getting back in.

My understanding is Canada may not let you in- because they don't want Americans "stranded out in their country" so I guess its up to the border crossing guard- if he/she is having a bad day- you re gettin turned away.

Here's the contact info for the US Department of State. You can check the status of your passport online.
