Hey guys,
Recently went out and discovered the trolling motor was not working. Now I have a minn kota power drive (5 years old). The two batteries I have are only 6 months old and yes there were charged by the onboard charger. Now here's the thing I can't figure out. If i plug in the charger to an outlet the trolling motor works just fine but if I unplug the cord from the outlet it completely shuts off (like there are no batteries at all). So I took a wire brush and some sandpaper and figured it was a bad connection on the battery...did that and it still does not work. Now I'm lost. Please help me.

Check your fuse that connects the motor to the batteries. BG

Just because the batts are only 6 months old doesn't mean they are good. Have you tested them with a load tester? If it was a fuse it shouldn't work at all with or without the charger hooked up. 1st, check to make sure batteries are both taking and holding a charge. 2. check water level in batteries if they are not agm or maintenance free batts. 3. check all conections at both batteries and the wires to the pug and check the plug itself for any corrosion. 4. If all else fails take the motor to a service center and have them check it over. hope this helps its all I can think of right now. Good Luck.
