What do you guys like about the reels and which one would you prefer? I'm looking for a reel to mainly throw mags and pounders with the occasional use for a back up/spare cowgirl reel.

If you are looking for a reel to throw mags & pounders I think your best bet is to go with a saltis 30. You don't have to reel like crazy when fish run at the boat and less cranks per rip. That being said I have 2 Calcutta 400's B@TE there both great as long as you don't put a power handle on them.

Tim, how come you don't like the power handle? I have one on my TE and really like it. I know some have had problems with the weight of the handle causing spool to engage on the cast - for me this is not a problem. Couple reasons may be (1) I don't try to gun my baits with this setup (2) I cast with the handle facing up. I've also heard of others that make sure the knob is in the down position on the cast.

I don't like the power on my TE because I keep pulling the threads off the drive shaft. This is the second time this has happend. Last Monday I got a 52" got it in the boat pics taken and released her picked up my rig and the handle is busted again. I love the reel just not the power handle. If anybody can tell me how to prevent this let me know because I know it will happen again.
