Maybe you could, but I don't think I would want to with a rod rated to 10 ozs. (even though it can apparently handle more). I really don't know if I would want to with a $300+ rod. The Musky Innovations Monster Mag rod is rated to something like 40 oz. and that would do it. The St. Croix 7'9" XXXH can do it, and the Fig Rig Jawbreakers were supposed to handle really big stuff. Fig Rig is done though, so you might need to look for a used Jawbreaker.

Maybe the Big Dawg can do it, but it seems like it's asking a lot?

I'd rig a catapult of some kind, or maybe a giant sling like they use for sturgeon fishing in the northwest. St. Croix or Tooth Tamers XXX should work though.

Sounds like your best bet. I have a couple of 2 pounders and I won't be throwing them too often even with my XXH BullDawg Rod. Waaaaaaay to hard on the body.

I did this, launched a 2 pounder into the depths of Presque Isle Lake, and was actually kind of happy I did. It's a Pain throwing those things.
