Lamiglas

I'am thinking of buying a longer (9ft) rod for trolling baits like mag dawgs and nilsmaster invincibles and 20cm skinners.

Are those lamiglas LGM 90 H any good?

What about lamiglas in general? I don't read much about them on the forums...?

The LGM90H is an awesome rod! Great for the big stuff both trolling and casting. It was originally designed as mainly a trolling rod, good friend of mine designed it with the fish of Green Bay in mind where there are times when you want to troll small stuff, but also time when you want to troll really big stuff. And then to be able to handle the biggest muskies. As a musky trolling rod it is perfection.
It is also an awesome casting rod too. I use it for chucking pounder sized stuff, giant crank baits, and big blades (great double ten rod), loads everything up well. Will throw the smaller stuff decently too, not the rod I would normally choose to throw smaller stuff with, but it will throw it, great all purpose rod.
Between the LGM 90H and the LGM 86XH those are the only two rods I find myself using anymore.

Shane covered it pretty well. I use the 9' quite a bit during guiding as I tend to throw the larger stuff while having clients throw the smaller stuff. Works great on baits like 10" Jakes, Hooker Jrs., 13" Grandmas, and so forth.

I have been very pleased with my Lamiglas rods, and every client that gets in my boat ends up loving them! A great rod that as you mentioned you just don't hear much about.

Thanx for your info. You are realy helpng me here. But i guess it's quite a heavy rod then. a 9ft rod casting a pounder must realy be something i guess. perhaps heavier then i thought after all. I think it's to heavy for my fishing. I'm really searching for a 9ft rod for trolling. one that casts a pounder sound to heavy for me i think. I don't troll lures bigger then a 12" dawg, nilsmaster 25cm or shadclone.

At the salmon range I found the G 1308-T, G 1344-T, G 1316-T and G 1348-T. They seem somewhat lighter. Any experiance on them?

The 9’ has a strong backbone yet has a soft tip on it. Just because we are using it for tossing pounders and such doesn’t mean the rod is a pool cue (stiff). In fact most people think the rod is too light (too much flex) for tossing heavy lures. That is the beauty of Lamiglas as the rods can handle what they are rated for, but still keep a bend in the rod for fighting fish and casting. The rod will load up plenty for trolling. As Shane mentioned this rod was/is actually geared towards trolling, but some of us use it for casting. Don’t let the rod rating of XH fool you.

Lami's are very popular in the west for salmon..................good rods!! They are kind of "heavy" as in the amount of weight compared to some others I think but they have a good reputation for being durable.

I dont think its too heavy, we do troll a lot of small stuff too, baby depth raiders and such with the LGM 90 H. I think its perfect for the baits you mentioned. Very versatile rod.

As far as the other G1000 series rods you mentioned I have not, I have been looking at picking up a G1316 and G1348 to try. 2 piece rods are easier to travel with. I have heard from a few that the G1316 is a must have.

Since there are no shops that carries lamiglas in my region i have to order a rod partly based on your comments. But I think the G 1348 will be a graet rod for my trolling needs. Anyone using this one?

But what does "Herring" meen where it says rodtype?

For salmon fishing with herring as bait. Not a muskie rod.

Steven sorry I meant to say that it was the G1316 was the one I was told is the must have. The Kenai Killer.
Herring is a type of baitfish used in salmon trolling, google 'cut plug herring' for more info.
