I'm trying to help my step-dad with a boat purchase, this engine is on the rig he's looking at. Any feedback on these engines? Not a whole lot of information using multiple search engines on the web.

TIA

Could be a Black Max or an EFI. Both are reliable engines. The Black Max is not fuel injected, so it displays the attributes of a carbed engine. I'd have a compression test done before buying just to be sure.

Thanks Steve, it's EFI'd. Seller had a CT done, basically 120-125 on all cylinders. Should be good to go!

Carbon is that engine's worst enemy. I'd run a can of Sea Foam through each tank of gas, it's inexpensive 'insurance' against a cracked ring or worse.
