| Next year I'm looking to try LOTW or Eagle Lake for the first time and would like some suggestions. I'd love to go to AML, but they're just too expensive for my budget. If I can find the right price I would like to rent a boat, but I can always bring my own.
My wife is starting to get into muskie fishing and I'd like to take her to a place with good numbers and at least a decent shot at a big fish, or seeing big fish. There are so many resorts on those two lakes I don't know where to start. Thanks. |

| Try Birchdale Lodge, northern part of Eagle. Great rates and they really try to get you on fish. |

Location: Minnesota | Cedar Point Lodge on Eagle is a nice place and has treated me well.
Sandy's Blackhawk Island Camp on LOTW has numbers and size close by.
My experience has been that LOTW will give you better odds at numbers and Eagle has better odds at bigger fish. Both have trophy potential but I have a higher average size on Eagle. |

| Birch Dale Lodge if it is muskies you are looking for Eagle has them My wife, son and I just came back from there 2 weeks ago. I was able to get out 1 full day of muskies fishing and We seen 13 muskies that day. 1 being around 53" My son boated a 47" pic. in big fish (Jaws 47) and raised several about 40-45". Jaws also lost a 45" on the way into the boat. Beautiful lake. The owners son will take you out on a guided trip (8hrs well worth the money). I was with my wife other wise I would of fished muskies all week long.

| Thank you all for the suggestions. Does Birchdale Lodge have a website or a way to contact them by e-mail? I found an address for them, but no phone number or e-mail. |

Location: Iowa | IMO, Andy Meyers Lodge on Eagle lake is pretty hard to beat as a muskie camp. Herbie runs a first rate camp and tries everything in his power to put you on fish consistantly. When you arrive there is an informational session about current patterns as well as map marking. Mid-week they go through and do the same in case something has changed throughout the past couple of days. This will be my dad and I's 3rd time going and I can't wait. The fish on eagle are great to, always a shot at a true giant.

| Like I said I'd love to go to AML, but I just can't spend that much money. My wife and I would be looking at a 3K trip. |

| ??? It would be 1/2 that. From AML website:
Includes: 6 day / 7 night accommodations, late model boats with new motors. 18 gallons of gas per boat, all towels and linens, daily dock service, midweek maid service, use of boats and motors on 5 remote lakes at no charge, marked maps and seminars. Bring your own boat and enjoy free boat dockage and battery hook-up. (Single guide dates may be added at current rate.) Any number of days may be pro-rated to fit your schedule and a package tailor made for you.
1 - 4 persons: $739.00 each
Similar package from Birchdale $665 each - not exactly a huge difference.

| Have stayed at several resorts on Eagle. Spend all of my time at Sportsman lodge now. Quiet camp, maybe 8 cabins, great location and the owners are fantastic. |

Location: Antioch, IL | 3K budget for 2 people for one week shouldn’t close to many doors for you. As stated above that should more than cover you at most places. For LOTW I would highly recommend Bill Sandy's Blackhawk Island. Great place, good docks and who can't go wrong with Billy. Not only is he arguably the best fisherman on the lake, he's also a super guy. He will flat out put you on fish. |

| I guess I should have specified that my wife and I would want the American Plan. The lake we went to last year we got the american plan w/ our own boat for 750, so it worked out really well for us. Only thing is that it was a trophy lake and not a numbers lake, so she barely had any action. That's why we're wanting to try LOTW or Eagle.
I don't see on AML website what they charge for the american plan w/ your own boat, but the base price is 1159 for the american plan w/ his standard boat. |

Location: Milwaukee, WI | Check owt Duck Bay Lodge on Sabaskong Bay of LOTW. They pick you up in Morson and you stay on a large island (Hay Is.) American plan w/excellent meals! Very nice camp boats. Ask for a guided day with Rob (#2 son), he knows lots of musky spots nearby. Great hospitality!

Location: NW WI | Cedar Point Lodge on Eagle would get my vote. AML is expensive (but nice!) but IMO is best for hardcore muskie fisherpeople. |

| If you want a lake that consistently yields a lot of musky action, Eagle may not be for you. Eagle can be a numbers lake at times, but can also hand the best sticks on the lake their a$$ for days on end.
