A boat I'm looking at has a Lowrance X-15mt GPS/sonar combo unit. I know it's an early 2000 vintage unit that B&W (which is OK with me).

Anybody out there ever use this unit? Pro's and con's? I assume it will accept Lakemaster or Navionics or ?? chips.

Any input is most appreciated!

I got a X17 that I really like. I like the big screen. A friend used to have a X15, that is what got me looking for one, but found the 17 at the bargin cave at cabelas for 500 a few years back, probably not that good of a deal nowadays, but back then it wasnt bad. Anyway. The 15 is limited on chips that it can use. I can use about anything in the 17, but the 15 is limited. My friend who had one bought a "package" were he could download maps off CD onto a SD chip, but he couldnt just pop in a lakemaster.
From the best I can remember this is correct, but i'm no expert.

I have both an X-17 (bow, just used for sonar) and an X-15. The X-15 GPS went out after a year and a half and I had to replace it with a dedicated GPS. I worked with customer service over a dozen emails and a number of phone calls and get to the point where I needed to get a new GPS reciever or at least send mine in for checking. I then decided to get a dedicated GPS and now just use the X-15 for sonar, which it is great for. BUT, a working one will take a navionics chip.

Any idea what a fair price for one of these would be? Including the external GPS antenna but no chip? Can't find anything on the net.

Guy want $450 and that seems steep for a unit that's 8 yrs old and B&W.
