To answer my own question I found this on another site.
A field of 13 boats/26 anglers if my source is correct. Day 1 Results: Three fish were registered, Patrick Cotter and Dave Orgon lead with a double, a 42.75" and 50". Luke Ronnestrand and Chris Jensen are in second with a 41".

Can the number of boats/anglers actually be correct?

Look to the video section and article section of MuskieFIRST for full MAC Hartman Series coverage.

Yes, the number of boats entered is correct. First place will reportedly be $2,600.00, second $1600.00 and third $1000.00.

While talking with Paul Hartman, Executive Director of the Hartman Series, he stated that examples like the following link were the number one reason for the light turnout at this event. The number two reason is tough times in the economy, the MAC Hartman Metro was down about 14% to just over 500 entries, still strong and reflecting strong participation due in part to the relatively inexpensive $35 entry and great prizes. Cass Lake is already ahead of the Mille Lacs registrations more than 90 days away from the Cass Lake Hartman Series event.

There has been a considerable amount of talk this year and last that the bite on Mille Lacs has been tough. None the less, the number of fish caught in last year's nearly full Hartman event has been tied on day one with a 50", a 43.75, and a 41 registered. Patrick Cotter and Dave Orgon caught a giant of a 53" Muskie Friday during prefish and a very heavy 50" fish yesterday, and Luke Ronnestrand prefished one day and popped a nice fish in prefish and a 41 yesterday.

The MAC Hartman Series will return to Mille Lacs and Hunters Point next year.

Good coverage of the event guys!  Pretty cool.  It's too bad more people didn't participate in this event.

The MAC is here to stay, and will do exactly what is promised:
Higher payout ratios
Two tier system; MAC and Hartman Series

And:
The Muskie Anglers Circuit was formed to

a) provide a national competitive arena and media platform to showcase the abilities and personalities of the sport's most skilled competitive muskie anglers

b) promote muskie angling and conservation and to provide educational opportunities for current and future generations of anglers and

c) showcase products and service that support the sport of muskie fishing.

All MAC tournaments are CPR (Catch, Photo, and Immediate Release).

Most importantly, the MAC wasn't formed to 'make money' for the organizers, it was formed to do what is posted above for the anglers and their sponsors. The Muskie Anglers Circuit is here to stay and as a result we HOPE more circuits go to the Muskie CPRR (Muskie catch, photo, release, record) format Paul Hartman pioneered.

The MAC Hartman Series events will be covered as you see here on MuskieFIRST this weekend.
The MAC Tour events will be covered by a much larger crew and will incorporate ALOT more cool technology.

The virtual weigh in stage is ready to go:

The article tells the story. The water is cold and the muskies don't appear to be anywhere near shallow predictable targets. The idea of sifting the basin in search of muskies targeting the tullibes on a basin the size of Mille Lacs is laughable. If the skies were set up 50-100 yards off the usual structure guys would be catching them. More likely they are 2 miles off the structure.

Ronnestrand and Jensen just put a 45 in the rig right in front of Paul Hartman's rig, taking back possession of second place.

Hunters Point was a great place to headquarter an event; everyone there did the best possible to make us comfortable. The MAC will be back again next year, probably a week later.

I take it Jason Hamernick and Bill Buechner were not in the tournament, kind of odd as they dominate that tournament darn near ever year.

Congrats to the people who placed! Nice Job!

I thought the qoute by paul in the wrap up was a little presumptuous "If the field was full a record would have been set". Me thinks that is a lot of wishful thinking. Luke boats a fish quite often in that tourney and to use the multiplication factor for a full field is a little silly.

5 fish out of 24 anglers is great action, and there was 1 48" and 2 over 50 from Friday's prefish to Sunday afternoon. It isn't 'silly' at all to believe that if there were 100 top shelf muskie fishermen out there a record could have been set.

Do you fish any of the Hartman events?

Yes, steve I used to fish the metro tourney and caught fish in it as well. I lost intrest in it when it strated to count toward the year end standings and then all of the pro guides started fishing it.
Back to the point if let's say hammernick and his partner caught there usual 4-6 fish we can just multiply that by the number of anglers. It is like saying a guy gets a 50" one night on a lake and sees three other boats and they all got skunked. That if there were 100 boats 25 fish at 50" would have been caught that night. SILLY!!

That's not what was said. What was said was that if there were 150 anglers out there, based on the number of fish caught by this field (ratio, not multiplier) a record could have been set at perhaps 30 fish.

I'd suggest you use a bit more tact. What Paul said was intended to make a point, and he made it well.

You quit fishing the MMT fundraiser for the Metro Lake stocking program because the competition became stiffer? We'd like to see you back in it next year now that there's no points transferred for the Hartman Series events.
