| Hi guys, i have a 1500 mercury it is a 1978, ran fine until i went to put it in rev. and it backed up then shifted into forward and it would go but when i would throttle up it would just rev up high and not go into high gear it just stays in no wake gear, i got home and looked at the motor and noticed that the top linkage at the motor was loose i screwed it back to the other part of the linkage in the motor, do you think this is the problem or is it in the throttle box itself. |

Is the lowerunit making any nois when in gear? I guess it might be possible for it to not be going all the way into gear but if that were the case I would think there would be some noise. I would have the prop looked at first. Hope this helps. |

| went out and put the boat in gear and the prepeller would spin forward and make a clicking sound tried to spin it the other way and it would not spin. I then pulled the throttle back to reverse and tried to spin it, it would not spin either way in reverse, could this be the hub you were talking about? |
