What do you guys think about a 620 with a 200 hp Opti on it? Ranger recommends 200-250 hp, but is 200 short on the needs for this boat?

A 200 Opti on that rig is more than enough. It won't be pushing 60 mph but definitley low 50 mph without a problem.

Must be newer model with that rating, it will work, but the one thing it will hurt is resale, underpower boat tend to be alittle harder to sell, especially underpowering by 50 hp. If it a money issue I would look used, but atleast go with a 225

Last time I knew, a 620 has a max hp rating of 250. So, if Ranger recommends anything between 200-250, that's not underpowered. Now if you were to put a 150-175 on there, that would be underpowered. A 200 Opti on that rig WILL do just fine. Heck, put the new 200 Optimax Pro XS on there and it'll be dang near just as good as the 225.

It is an used boat, 2006 with new hull. So changing it to something elso won't work.

My hull is the old 225 620, and it had a 200 VMAX on it, and it ran about 50. Got a 225 four stroke on now, and I'm pushing 55. If you don't mind losing the 5-8 mph, it'll be fine. The 200 got the boat up on plane and pushed it fine. It was just top end that suffered.

See if the will let you take it out on the water, and 06 is a foot longer than the old 620 hull. Make sure the front bow has steep rake, you will take wake on I believe some 06, 07, 08 model, Ranger change the front rake.

when i got my 619 i asked the dealer about a 200 on it instead of a 225 and he said the resale value goes down if you dont max it out. but i dont think a 200 opti will have a problem pushing it 40+mph.

As stated, it will push the boat just fine. It will be a difficult boat for resale with a 200 on it. The boats that have a more tapered rake are a bit faster hull. When ranger changed the hull to make it dryer it slowed it down a bit. It does take a little more water over the bow in big water though.
