For the first time since 2005, tiger muskies have been stocked in a handful of Utah water bodies. Yearly stocking had been halted due to the VHS virus in true strain muskies. The division was unwilling to bring in any fish that weren't tested and found to be disease free. Through years of hard work put in by UDWR officials in the state, that source was finally found. Today the juvenile tiger muskies made the journey all the way from Nebraska. They were then divided up into different hatchery trucks and taken to their new homes. Along with the juvenile tigers a clean source of true muskies was secured and they currently reside at a local hatchery where they will be grown with hopes to cross with our pike to make our own tigers in order to stock on a more regular basis. I was fortunate enough to be in charge of stocking Newton Reservoir. Here are a few pictures of the little guys going in. Enjoy!
