For the past year or so I have been having a terrible time with pages being slow to load, or not loading at all and timing out. Just curious if its something with the site itself or maybe something with the setting on my computer? This is the only site I have that trouble with.

Same thing castmaster, but it's not consistent. 3-4 different computers that i'll use in any given time frame do it seemingly at random. Reclicking the button several times after it's stalled for a minute+ will usually get it to go through....<annoying>.

I would stringly recomend clearing your cache and delete all your cookies, and temporary internet files and see if that helps. Just go to Tools on your Internet go to internet options and you will see what I am talking about. It will erase passwords that saved so before you do remember them or write them down. Also maybe de frag (clean up space on hard drive) your computer and make more space. Eveything you click on IS saved in your computer. Even if you dont have to hit a "Save" button.

About 50% of the time on this computer with Windows 2000 the pages just won't load at all or it takes forever. On the computer running XP I never have that problem. If the pages aren't loading sometimes I can get off the net and reconnect to fix the problem, but sometimes not. Oh well....

I'm with muskiewhored, Cleaning up your system will make all your files run better / faster, just less junk the pc has to deal with

Another thing to do is see what you actually are having run on start up. To many application/tasks will kill your computer speed. I also here at work have 2000, and no problems because I did what I mentioned once a month.

Here's a nice little freeware application that does a great job, fast and easy. First, defrag your hard drive. Set that function to auto, and do it regularly late at night. Down load this puppy, and clean your 'puter daily. Check everything to b cleaned except cookies.

I find everything on the site works nice and fast with the exception of sending PMs. Sometimes they will sit in my outbox for a day before getting into my sent items. For the life of me I cant understand why it is only when sending the PMs.

I actually sell software for a living and trust me, if this is the only thing that is wrong with something, it is the best program in the world!!!

The PM sits in your outbox until the recipient opens it, then it shows as sent. Lets you know your message has been received.

I'm on a brand new(less than 2 months old) Dell running Vista Home Premium. Delete cookies once a week and do not have this problem with any other site. Sometimes its lightning fast, other times it just sits and tries to load until it times out. Often times if it hasnt loaded pretty quickly I hit the stop button and reload until it comes back to speed.

I'm not he most experienced computer guy so certainly not saying it couldnt be something on my end, just figured if it was I'd notice it on more than just this site.

Sounds like a connection problem between your ISP and us. Are you running IE or Firefox?

Bill, no start up isnt just the icons, there are programs running always on start up that may not need to be, if you go to task manager and see whats running you will be amazed on how many program run in the backround. If some of you dont mantain your computers you will be in for a slow ride and many issues if you havent already. About the FIREWALL thing, you may need to adjust the security settings to allow different website - most which include chat/forum types. Also make sure you all update your systems, microsoft has updates all the time. VISTA- is one that has a lot of stuff running - I have vista on my laptop and removed all the programs it comes with and re installed just the ones I use - I also know Mcafee slows down you PC with Vista - So sometimes its your spyware that boggs it down. Someone can do that cheap at a best buy, or the like for you is you dont know how. This may not work for all of you and for sure dont do anything you dont understand yourself. Again -Just my suggestions NOT guaranteed to work for all of you.

Steve,
I'm running Firefox and get service through Embarq's dsl connection. And like I said I'm no computer expert, just confused as to why this only happens with this one site, and why it sometimes is lightning fast yet at other times slow as molasses. Being pretty much a computer dummy I figured if it was something on my end it would manifest itself with more than one site.

I also DO NOT want to come off as ragging on the site in any way as I do feel its the best site out there as far as content from the site itself and often provides the most useful information from other members as well.

I've noticed that lately on this site I'm experiencing the same thing (slowness, etc). I bounce between sites a lot and haven't noticed this on the others that I frequent.
