Location: Windy City | Recently while changing my oil, as I pulled the drain plug I noticed a white watery milky residue coming out first before the oil.Not very much at all but not what I was expecting. On top of that when I check my oil on the dipstick I smell a gassy exhaustlike mixture. I am getting worried. Time to bring it in to the shop or what? Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Sounds like a cracked or warped head or cracked block and you're getting water and or fuel into the oil The water will settle to the bottom, so it'd come out first when you drain it. Sounds like you might have issues. How old is the motor?
I don't claim to be a motor expert, but that's the first thing that comes to my mind.

| 4 Stroke making oil!!! Been there, done THAT!!
I had one of the older 115s 4strokes, it made lots of oil! Yamaha finally replaced the power head for me (under warranty).
The problem seemed to be 1 cylinder, even with a new powerhead #1 spark plug always looked different than the other 3 plugs.
I talk to a lot of other owners an I never found anyone with this problem (making oil). I would have to say the Yamaha rep treated my very well! |

Location: Duluth, MN | Common problem...walleye central site has ALOT of discussion on this over the years. Pretty much all 4 stroke yamaha owners have had this happen. If you dig enough you will find the common conclusions that when you break in a new Yamaha you need to disregard the manual and run it hard...you need to get the rings to seat properly. Obviously your past that point. So to best control it now is order a new thermostat. The new one runs 10 degrees hotter then the original. And limit the amount of trolling you do with your big motor. I don't ever troll with my big motor. If you go a day of walleye fishing and just troll your going to get fuel in your crankcase and you'll have to change the oil. You'll be busy reading for hours on this subject but those are the most common solutions to at least control it. |

Location: Northwest Wi. | Anytime you have water in the crankcase you have a problem that should be corrected right away or else you may cause some serious damage to your engine. I would take it in ASAP!! Better safe than sorry. |
