The fiance and I are getting married up by Lake Vermilion next month and the old man is pulling his boat up from Wisconsin for the week. Will he run into problems w/ his trailer not being licensed? He will put the boat in once and then have it parked at private cabin in the middle of nowhere for the rest of the week. Anybody ever have problems?

That is a state to state thing. If the boat was titled in the State of Minnesota, it would be required to have a plate, but since it was titled and kept in WI, you don't need it. Your able to go state to state just fine, no requirement for out of state visiting. Never heard of such a thing.

MN Trailers don't require plates under a certain size I have a 617 registered in MN and I have only a sticker for the tongue.

Trailers in MN that are under 3100lb rating (those that do not require brakes) no longer need the license plate. As marine_1 said, only a sticker on the tongue and it is a one-time deal...done for the life of the trailer.
