Hey TJ, or anyone else, can you tell me if the side imaging that Lowrance is supposed to release will work on the current HDS units, or will it be a new unit in itself? Any other info about this product would be great.

Thanks,

Dave

Probably will run on all HDS units, you will have to buy a new transducer and upgrade the software. There are videos and photos are here...

From what I understand, it's an "upgrade" to the HDS units. Yeah, it'll work, but yeah, you'd need the new ducer and I don't know....maybe a software upgrade.

In order to get the Side scan, all it will be is an add-on feature to any of the HDS units. There is no upgrade or a need to buy a particular unit for it to work. It will work on the HDS 5, 7, 8 and 10 models. However, you will need to purchase the transducer separate seeing it won't come with the unit. They did this because not everyone will want to spend the money on this feature.

Lowrance will be releasing this Side Scan at the Icast show in Orlando on July 15th. It will then be available at retailers shortly after that.

Here is the clip talking a little more about the add-on features that the HDS units will be compatible to.
