| This is probably a beat up question but here it goes,
I already got 2 Luna 300's and absolutley love them.
I seen alot of talk about the Induron 400 on here.
Is there anyone here who has both ? If so, Is the Induron as smooth as the luna in casting & reeling ?
I actually enjoy fishing with my Luna's with their smoothness. But if I can get something as comparable as it in smoothness in reeling and casting Like in the Induron for half the price ,then I will get a few.
Thanks and Good fishin"..

| Lee, if I were you I would definitely consider giving the Induron a try. I just got mine and absolutely love it. Very smooth and it can take a good beating on the water, not to mention the price is very reasonable. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Your description matches the Induron almost perfectly.
EDIT:
The Induron series of classic round baitcasting reels uses the same precision engineering that is used in the production of our tournament-grade offshore reels. Machined from bar stock aluminum, these precision-crafted reels feature seven stainless steel bearings and a stainless one-way roller bearing. Finished with the six-disk Carbonite and stainless steel drag system you get the ultimate round reel. Smooth, strong and accurate. |

Location: Iowa Great Lakes | I have a friend that sold his Luna to buy an Induron after using mine for a week. I have casted both but only own the Induron and personaly would buy another Okuma over a Luna. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I've never used a Luna, but the Indurons are very, very nice for the money. I just bought a Red Isis and that almost seems slightly smoother than the Induron. Could just be that it's brand new too. Either way, for much less than the Luna costs, the Okumas are great reels.

Location: Michigan | I have both. If you have an extr $100, buy the Luna. IMOHO, the Luna is in a different classs. If you are comparing an Induron to other reels sub $120, it is a decent choice. Taking price out of it, there isn't even a question. I have been using an Indurton for the first time this season, and I will be selling it and replacing with another Luna. The lunas have become my go to reels. Just my opinion. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Cast it further? I can literally almost cast the line off my 400 if I want to. I have a couple $200 plus reels, and find myself reaching for my Induron most of the time. Subjective question...answer is, for $120 the Okuma will treat you very well and the customer service should you ever need anything is stellar. |

| Yes cast is further.. take a 1oz lure same rods same line and I can cast the Luna 10 - 15 yards further - guess my Okuma is defective?

Location: South Dakota | I hate to bring up any negatives here because the guys at Okuma have been great to work with and indeed provide excellent customer service. I have 2 indurons that both have the same problem. During a cast the "free spool" closes. This in turn puts undue stress on the internal parts of the reel and ultimately strips out a little brass peice so you are not able to retreive your line. I have had this happen twice on the one reel and once on the other one. There is a thread on this subject that goes into more detail as to why this may be happening, but none of the fixes worked for me. I'm sure if I sent the reels back into Okuma they would fix them and send them back to me at no charge but, I would rather use my Luna and Abus and just keep fishing. I have written it off to operator error.
The one thing I loved about them while they were working, is that they handled the cowgirls effortlessly on the retreive.

*** There are new hold plates now available for to fix this problem. There was a factory defect in some reels and the engineers designed a new hold plate to eliminate this. I'm sure the "fix" before was our tech just trying to modify your reels to make it work. This new part is a 100% fix.
There are two options for you to get them back up and running...
1.) We can send you 2 of the hold plates as new pinion gears so you can install free of charge.
2.) you can send your reels in and we can do the fix for you free of charge.
Feel free to write back to me in a PM and we will get them going.

The fix was announced a very long time ago, you must have missed it. Mark will take good care of you, send in those reels and you will be very happy with the results.
I have a brand new $235 reel that will engage during the cast if I'm not careful where the power handle is set before casting. My new Okumas will not. They got it right!
What are you going to do when your Luna or Abu has a problem? Each builder has a warranty for a reason and all reel models from all builders will occasionally have issues, send those Okumas in and get 'em fixed! |

Location: Illinois | I'm a fan of both. They both have their place and perform above average.
One is an entry level (Okuma), while the Luna is a little more smooth, comfortable, and 2 oz lighter. It's a little simpler to maintain- opening and it up to clean and oil is easier than the Okuma. Which one casts better? I love the Luna- smooth like butter I'm telling you.
Customer Service from Okuma is stellar, and when you combine that with low pricing, it's tough to beat. If customer service is your priority and you don't want to shell out 200+ bucks on a reel, go Okuma. If performance and ease of maintenance is what you crave, go Luna. Either one is a good choice.
my 2 cents

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The LUNA 300 is a far more advance reel then the Induron, I have used both reels for over 6mths so I'm talking from hands on casting of both reels. The DAIWA service is also very good. The LUNA 300 retails for $259.00, it has a 6 disc drag washers, 5 CRBB bearings, solid one piece frame, cut from bar stock aluminum, titanium steel line guide, free floating spool. The Induron retails for $139.99, $159.99 for the Red Iris, Now for the $$$ the Okuma reels are some of the best value reels on the market today, and they do have a V/G REP to take care of any and all problems youl have with these reels. The Induron is the best entry level musky reel today but most reel repair centers will have DAIWA, SHIMANO & ABU parts in stock, TICA and OKUMA U have to send in the reel. |
