Are these things "Good" for using on Muskies?
It seems to me that boga grips put more stress on the fish and do more harm than using a "Human hand"........................ I'm just wondering ?

| Nobody I know "hangs" the fish from them, but rather they use them to get a firm grip on the fish while unhooking them. I see no harm in that. I would never recommend using them to hang the fish from for pictures, etc. Not a good idea in my personal opinion. |

Location: Michigan | If you use them to aid in unhooking, or controling the fish while in the water, I think it can be an effective release tool. I use it this way on occasion. However:
YOU SHOULD NEVER HANG THE FISH FROM THE JAWS of a BOGA. Because the weight of the fish is concetrated on a small area near the jaw, you will cause damage. You could even break the jaw...
And from what I have seen from all the copy cat models, they are wrse than the BOGA. The BOGA head rotates, and most others do not. |

Location: oswego, il | I have used to boga grip and echo what others have said here. They work for picture taking is you support the body of the fish like you would with a gill hold. For someone not comfortable with a gill hold or not good at it, it is a good tool.
Like also mentioned above the head swivels and I think that is most important. These muskies will gator roll when you grip them with this tool every time. |

| I had one of the knock-offs and the first fish I used it on rolled on me and almost broke its jaw. Never again. The swivel feature is a must for musky. |

Location: Minnesota | I can't imagine why anyone would ever need to use one for muskies. I have never seen anyone use one or need to use one.
The only experience I have with them was on a bachelor party launch fishing on Mille Lacs and a non-fisherman used one to hold up a walleye for photos and the thing put a 3 inch long hole in the skin under the mouth. It doesn't look too forgiving to me. I would personally rather not see them ever used. To each their own - just not for me I guess. |

| They can get off the Boga. I witnessed a 56" get off the original Boga Grip while I was filming. Luckily we got a 2nd chance and secured the fish. All anglers involved were very experienced with thousands of muskies handled between them. Get the net! |
