Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | It's time for the next installment of the Okuma Photo Contest!
With muskie fishing seasons open most everywhere, we should see some good nature shots, some great "this is how you hold a muskie" pics, maybe a few smiling release moments...bring'em on! The winner of this contest is RARELY of the slob holding the biggest slob of the bunch, but the best picture overall. Don't worry if that fish you got was only 32", or if you lost one but got a shot that epitomized your day on the water - enter it! So impress me with your photo taking abilities.
Make sure to check out not only the rules below, but Okuma Fishing, supporter of so many MuskieFIRST events at http://www.okumafishing.com
Pretty basic rules: A new thread will be started at the beginning of every month, and will be active for between one week and 15 days. Contestants will enter a picture (ANY picture related to fishing or muskies in some way) by posting to the Okuma Fishing Monthly Photo Contest thread. At the end of that week myself, Mark Rogers of Okuma (California_Muskie screen name) and Mike Winther (lambeau) will judge the pictures. Judging will be based on photo quality and presentation versus being judged soley on fish size. Pictures should be related to muskie fishing, but do not necessarily need to include an actual fish. Enter as many times as you want, but you can only enter each picture one time.
***SPECIAL CONTINGENCY RULE: The BEST picture submitted per month where either a person in the picture is wearing or displaying the Okuma logo or brand, or where any Okuma product is CLEARLY VISIBLE will ALSO be the winner of a special contingency prize. What that prize is going to be.....stay tuned!
Please make sure to check out the new Red Isis reel, the EvX line of rods and my personal favorite, the Induron reels. Thanks again to Okuma Fishing for their continued support of MuskieFIRST and our users!

Location: Minneapolis, MN | This mid-30 inch tiger was taking a cruise around the lake with its head out of the water. Had to kick the Minnkota up into high gear to keep up with her. She didn't seem to mind me tagging along for a couple pics.

*Shamrocker: your pics need to be saved as JPEGS, which will decrease the size of the pics, and will allow you to post them. |

Location: Stones throw away...finally!! | A couple from the Big V a couple weekends ago. Woke up Friday morning and the truck said it was 38 degrees about 5;30 - 6:00 AM. Pretty chilly, but with the fog on the water, very scenic to wake up to. Not too bad of a picture for a camera phone.

Location: Minneapolis | That LSC fish is amazingly long. It's so long, it makes a healthy 21" girth look skinny. Wow. Nice markings, too! |

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | MI-DNR photographer David Kenyon contacted me and wanted some photos of LSC muskies. "No problem" I said... then the conversation went further and he wanted LSC big water/big boat photos. "I can't do that but... I think I know who can help." Scott D'Eath (MOMC president) was able to set up a photo trip with past MOMC president Brad Horton. David's son was home on leave from Ft. Bragg (he's an Air Force meteorologist) it didn't need to be said that he got first fish and as many as he wanted all morning. James hasn't fished since he was very young and this was a completely new experience for him. Here's (L to R) David Kenyon, James Kenyon, Brad Horton and Scott D'Eath with James 50.25 |
