Location: Verona, WI | Got this 41" on Waubesa Saturday a little after 10 am but it's also a good story. I was using a Daiwa Luna 300 which I had just bought a week ago. Fish hits the top raider and I set the hook hard and then nothing. I reel and I am getting no resistance and I see the line is slack. I just couldn't believe that the fish bit me off with a 12" wire leader and I start swearing up a storm. I start reeling in the slack line and see that the level wind is not moving. After a few nice comments about $260 reels I begin handlining the slack line into the boat when I realize the fish is still on.
Waldo grabbed the net and I handlined the musky in to the boat all while praying the fish wouldn't go on a big run with superlines in my hand. For some reason that fish just hit and went straight to the bottom and laid there.

Eric,
Was the 52 the one caught by the bridge in the river channel? I seem to remember hearing something about a 52 caught by a guy bass fishing in the river.

Location: In a shack in the woods | Saw lots of fish. They were very boat shy. Had one follow ten times. It would be 2 to 12 inches off the lure then about ten feet from the boat it would turn away. I stopped my shad rap one time and let it float up to the surface right where she would turn. She came up and sniffed it 1/4 inch from the rear treble then turned away. Had a low 40's hooked Friday and lost it. My partner hooked a nice 41 1/2 on Sunday at 1 pm.
